Surroundings of den Haesell

"den Haesell" is situated on the borders of the river Lek. A constantly changing atmosphere is created by the barge traffic and the many waterfowls. Nearby Bergambacht is a nice country village with plenty of shops and ample eating opportunities.

At 8 kilometers you 'll find Schoonhoven, a picturesque old town, called the Silvertown because of the many gold-, silver- and clockwork-workshops and museums.

The beautiful city of Gouda (12 kilometers) is famous for its cheese, treacle-wafers and candles and particularly for its magnificent gothic city-hall and the Sint Jan's church with the world-famous stained glass windows.

A specifically Dutch attraction are the windmills of Kinderdijk across the river. Here you can see how we keep our feet dry below sea level.

Kinderdijk

The cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam, the world's largest port are within easy reach.
